3/12/10 – Album Update #2 – The mixing of “Rollicking Musical” continues at a frenetic pace, with Joe Vent manning the helm like a manly helmsman. More frequent updates on progress toward completion will begin appearing soon on the band’s blog and Facebook and Twitter pages. The bottom-line is this: everything is still a “go” for the CD being available end of April.
2/17/10 – Album Update! – The “Rollicking Musical” LP is closer than ever to completion. No, seriously. It really is. Tracking is finished on all but one of the songs; the rest are in various stages of being mixed. We know the LP will have 10 songs; an 11th may be added subject to the outcome of the argument and ensuing fistfight.
Milwaukee illustrator Dan Augustine is wrapping up final touches on the LP packaging, pending finalization of song order and the like. A section of the cover art can be seen on the digital single for “All The Married People,” released in December, 2009 via iTunes, Amazon, Napster and a bunch of other digital sources.
The album was recorded by band member Joe Vent at Colonel Kurtz’s Lair of Sound. It would have been out sooner, but the singer kept adding new songs and throwing out others that had been fully or partially recorded. This burned through considerable amounts of time, money and good-will over the last 18 months. People are spent and ready to walk. They may have already by the time you’re reading this.
“Rollicking Musical” is expected to be available for purchase in April, with a release show in Milwaukee in mid-May. The LP will be available on CD and via digital download at the above-named sites and others. Watch this site, The Mike Benign Compulsion blog and our Twitter and Facebook pages for further updates.
