About The Mike Benign Compulsion
Mike Benign, Joe Vent, Brian Wooldridge and Mike Koch have known and ridiculed each other—and each other’s respective musical groups—for too many years to count. They've been asked to leave Milwaukee-based “giants” like Blue in The Face, The Wooldridge Brothers, The Yell Leaders, Arms & Legs & Feet, The Joker’s Henchmen, Dorian Gray and countless other combos in Middle America and urban Germany.
Collectively, The Mike Benign Compulsion’s members have had a hand in birthing loads of uninventive and, frankly, unlistenable recordings. The four are remarkably tepid showmen, hardened by playing thousands of gigs across the U.S.; humbled by opening for really successful people like Semisonic, Del Amitri, Whiskeytown, Widespread Panic, Black Francis, Trip Shakespeare, Marshall Crenshaw, The Verve Pipe, etc.
United by their shared notion of what it means to be human in the 21st century, the band members live by this simple credo:
